Nepal Qualifies for T20 World Cup Again

Kathmandu – Another major achievement has been added to the history of Nepali cricket. Nepal has qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup for the third time overall and the second consecutive time.

Nepal secured its place in the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be held in neighboring countries India and Sri Lanka next year, after confirming a top-three finish in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup Asia-EAP Qualifier in Oman.

Nepal first played in the T20 World Cup in 2014. After a 10-year wait, they made a return in 2024. Now, Nepal won’t have to wait long again, as they have qualified for the next edition in quick succession.

Currently, the Super Six matches are underway in Oman. Nepal secured four points by winning both of their Super Six matches, and had previously earned two points by finishing as group winners. This brought their total to six points.

Before their third match against Oman, Nepal secured qualification thanks to favorable results in other matches. On Wednesday, Qatar defeated Japan and UAE beat Samoa, allowing Nepal and Oman to secure World Cup berths with two matches to spare. Both Nepal and Oman have six points from three matches, with Oman leading the table on net run rate.
