Bhairahawa – Lumbini Khukuri Club secured a impressive victory in Sunday’s ‘A’ Division match of the ongoing Panchakanya Rupandehi Super League. In a rain-shortened 20-over game, Khukuri defeated Tirupati Cricket Club by 7 wickets.
Chasing a modest target of 80 runs, Lumbini Khukuri completed the chase in 10.5 overs, losing 3 wickets. In their winning effort, Nischal Chaudhary remained unbeaten on 26, Sandeep Rajali scored an unbeaten 20, Shankar Rana added 15, and Sameer Ali Musalman contributed 10 runs. For Tirupati, Tulbahadur Thapa took 2 wickets, while Aparajit Paudel claimed 1.
Earlier, at Siddhartha Cricket Ground in Bhairahawa, Tirupati Cricket Club—invited to bat first after losing the toss—managed only 79 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Shahab Alam led the bowling attack for Khukuri with 3 wickets, while Baitullah Khan and Ajay Kumar Chauhan picked up 2 wickets each. Durgesh Gupta and Sejad Alam Dhobi took 1 wicket apiece.
For Tirupati, Akash Tripathi scored 27 runs and Raunak Shrivastava added 24, but no other batter managed to reach double figures. Shahab Alam was named Player of the Match and received a cash prize of NPR 1,200.
The tournament, organized by the Rupandehi Cricket Association, will award NPR 100,001 to the winning team and NPR 50,001 to the runners-up, along with trophies, medals, and certificates. The Player of the Series will receive NPR 15,000, while the Best Batter, Best Bowler, and Emerging Player will each get NPR 5,000. Additionally, the Player of the Match in each game will be awarded NPR 1,200, according to tournament coordinator Pratham Parajuli.
