Kathmandu – The third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) is expected to generate economic transactions worth between Rs 700 million and Rs 750 million under the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
CAN Treasurer Padam Khadka shared the estimate during a press conference held on Sunday at the cricket ground in Kirtipur. He said CAN expects to generate this amount through sponsorships, ticket sales and other sources of revenue. According to him, sponsorships alone are expected to bring in around Rs 200 million for the tournament.
Including revenue from ticket sales and other sources, the NPL under CAN is projected to generate economic transactions worth between Rs 700 million and Rs 750 million, Khadka said. He added that the franchise team owners are also expected to spend an amount roughly equivalent to CAN’s expenditure on the tournament.
Based on these estimates, the overall economic activity generated by the third edition of the NPL over its one-month duration could reach approximately Rs 1.5 billion, Khadka said.
CAN expects the third edition of the NPL to make a further contribution to the commercial development of Nepali cricket.
