Nepal Sweep Jersey 2-0, Defeated Host by 7 Runs

The Nepal national cricket team completed a clean sweep of the series during their tour of Jersey as part of their preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. In the second match, played on Wednesday at the National Cricket Centre in Grainville, Jersey, Nepal registered their second consecutive victory by defeating Jersey by 7 runs via the DLS method.

After winning the toss, Nepal elected to bowl first, but Jersey’s batters proved that decision wrong in the second match. Jersey posted a massive total of 282/6 in their allotted 50 overs against Nepal. Chasing a target of 283, Nepal had reached 251/5 in 46 overs when rain interrupted play. As the match could not continue, Nepal was declared winner by 7 runs under the DLS method.

For Jersey, Patrick Gouge was the top scorer with 95 runs off 110 balls, including 10 fours and 2 sixes. Harrison Carlyon scored 56 off 80 balls, Zak Mark Tribe made 50 off 37 balls, Nick Greenwood contributed 32 off 45 balls, while captain Jonty William Jenner added 27 off 15 balls.

Among Nepal’s bowlers, Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed two wickets each, while Lalit Rajbanshi picked up one wicket. Sompal Kami, Hemant Dhami, Gulshan Jha, Nandan Yadav, Kushal Bhurtel, and captain Aarif Sheikh remained wicketless.

In the run chase, Ishan Pandey played a brilliant innings of 90 runs off 115 balls, striking 14 fours. Kushal Bhurtel scored 51 off 42 balls with seven boundaries, while Bhim Sharki contributed 37 runs from 51 deliveries.

Towards the end of the innings, Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten on 34 off 42 balls, while Rohit Paudel stayed unbeaten on 21 off 18 balls to guide Nepal towards victory. Aasif Sheikh was dismissed for 1, while captain Aarif Sheikh scored 3 runs.

For Jersey, Charles Perchard took two wickets, while Julius Sumerauer and Scott Van Breda claimed one wicket each.

Nepal had also won the first One-Day match between the two teams. In that game, Nepal scored 250/8, while Jersey was bowled out for 169.
