Mulder’s Record-breaking Knock Seals Series Victory for South Africa Over Zimbabwe

Kathmandu – South Africa clinched the Test series against Zimbabwe thanks to a record-breaking triple century from captain Wiaan Mulder.

In the second Test on Tuesday, South Africa secured a dominant win by an innings and 236 runs, taking the series 2–0.

Batting first, South Africa declared their innings at 626 for 5. Zimbabwe, in response, were bundled out for just 170 in their first innings, forcing a follow-on. In their second innings, Zimbabwe managed 220 runs, falling well short and handing South Africa a comprehensive victory.

Mulder’s historic triple century placed him fifth on the all-time list for the highest individual scores in a single Test innings. The record for the highest Test score remains with West Indies legend Brian Lara, who scored an unbeaten 400 against England in 2004.

Mulder also became the second-fastest player to score 300 runs in terms of balls faced, reaching the milestone in 297 deliveries. India’s Virender Sehwag holds the top spot, having made 300 in just 278 balls.

Moreover, Mulder became the first captain in Test cricket history to score 300 runs in a single innings.
