Kathmandu – In the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup T20 cricket tournament, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets.
Chasing a target of 134 runs set by Sri Lanka, Pakistan reached the total in 18 overs, losing five wickets. Mohammad Nawaz remained unbeaten on 38 runs, while Mohammad Wasim stayed not out on 32.
For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva and Maheesh Theekshana took two wickets each, and Dushmantha Chameera claimed one.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being put in to bat in Abu Dhabi, Sri Lanka scored 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Kamindu Mendis was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 50 runs.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim took two each, and Abrar Ahmed claimed one.
With this victory, Pakistan climbed to second place on the Super Four table with two points from two matches. Sri Lanka, having lost both of their matches, sits at the bottom of the table.
India and Pakistan advanced from Group A, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh qualified from Group B for the Super Four. Today, India will face Bangladesh.
