India Level First Innings with England in Third Test

Kathmandu – India matched England’s first innings total in the third Test of the series.

India, playing as the visiting team, were bowled out for 387 runs in their first innings — equaling England’s total from their first innings.

For India, KL Rahul scored a century, marking his second century at Lord’s. He made 100 runs, including 13 fours. Other notable contributions came from Rishabh Pant (74), Ravindra Jadeja (72), Karun Nair (40), Nitish Kumar Reddy (30), and Washington Sundar (23).

Among England’s bowlers, Chris Woakes took 3 wickets, while Jofra Archer and captain Ben Stokes took 2 wickets each. Shoaib Bashir and Brydon Carse claimed 1 wicket each.

Starting their second innings on the third day (Saturday), England reached 2 runs in 1 over by stumps.

Earlier, England had won the toss and opted to bat first, putting up 387 runs, led by a century from former captain Joe Root, who scored 104 runs with 10 boundaries. Brydon Carse (56) and Jamie Smith (51) also added valuable runs, while Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope each contributed 44, and Ben Duckett scored 23.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler, taking 5 wickets for 74 runs in 27 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Siraj took 2 wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja picked up 1 wicket.

The five-match Test series is currently tied 1-1, with England winning the first Test and India claiming victory in the second.
