Tri-Nation T20I Series: New Zealand Defeats South Africa

Kathmandu – In the second match of the ongoing Tri-Nation T20I series in Zimbabwe, New Zealand secured a 21-run victory over South Africa.

Played at the Harare Sports Club on Wednesday, South Africa was bowled out for 152 in 18.2 overs while chasing a target of 174 runs.

Dewald Brevis top-scored for South Africa with 35 runs off 18 balls, including 1 four and 3 sixes. George Linde contributed 30 runs off 20 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes. Lohan de Pretorius made 27 off 17 balls with 6 fours, and Gerald Coetzee scored 17 before getting out.

For New Zealand, Jacob Duffy and Matt Henry took three wickets each, while Ish Sodhi claimed two.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat, New Zealand posted 173 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Tim Robinson was the standout performer with an unbeaten half-century. He scored 75 runs off 57 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. Tim Seifert contributed 22 runs. Robinson shared a 103-run unbeaten partnership for the sixth wicket with Bevon Jacobs, who remained not out on 44 off 30 balls, hitting 1 four and 3 sixes.

For South Africa, Kwena Maphaka took 2 wickets, while Gerald Coetzee, Senuran Muthusamy, and Lungi Ngidi each claimed one.

With this win, New Zealand is at the top of the table due to a superior net run rate, despite being level on 2 points with South Africa. Hosts Zimbabwe remain winless.

The series follows a double round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final. The third match of the series will be played on Friday between New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
