Nepal to Bat First Against Samoa

Kathmandu – Already qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup through the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier with two matches to spare, Nepal will bat first against Samoa today.

 

Nepal is batting after losing the toss. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:15 PM (local time) at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat.

 

If Nepal defeats the comparatively weaker Samoa side, they will be crowned champions of the Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.

 

This will be the first-ever encounter between Nepal and Samoa. Nepal remains the only unbeaten team in the tournament and currently leads the Super Six table with 8 points. Host nation Oman is in second place with 6 points.

 

If Oman wins and Nepal loses today, the winner of the title will be decided based on net run rate.

 

The 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February–March 2026. Nepal’s captain Rohit Paudel has expressed his commitment to putting on an even better performance at the global tournament.
