Kathmandu – Nepal is set to face Qatar today in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.
The match will take place at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman and is scheduled to begin at 8:45 PM Nepali time.
In their first Super Six match, Nepal registered a thrilling 1-run victory against their familiar rival, the UAE.
Nepal advanced to the Super Six after winning both of their group ‘B’ matches. They defeated Kuwait by 58 runs in the first match and secured a 5-wicket win over Japan in the second. Nepal is now aiming for its fourth consecutive victory in the tournament.
Qatar, on the other hand, reached the Super Six by defeating Malaysia. In the group ‘A’ stage, Qatar lost to the UAE but bounced back to beat Malaysia by 8 wickets. However, in the Super Six, Qatar suffered a 34-run loss against Oman.
Nepal and Qatar have faced each other three times previously, with Nepal winning two of those encounters and Qatar winning one. Nepal currently leads the Super Six table with 4 points and remains unbeaten, while Qatar has yet to earn a point.
In the Super Six stage, Nepal will compete against four of the five teams, excluding Japan, which advanced to this round from the same group. After a total of 12 Super Six matches, the top three teams will qualify for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February–March 2026.
