Nepal Defeats Canada in Warm-up Match

Kathmandu – Nepal has defeated Canada in their second warm-up match ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

In the match played on Thursday in Chennai, Nepal beat Canada by six wickets. Chasing a target of 162 runs set by Canada, Nepal reached the target in 18 overs, losing four wickets.

For Nepal, Asif Sheikh top-scored with 58 runs before retiring out. Sandeep Jora contributed 44 runs, while Gulshan Jha added 31. For Canada, Ajayveer Singh, Jaskaran Singh and Saad Bin Zafar picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Canada posted 161 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Navneet Dhaliwal scored the highest with 41 runs, followed by Shreyas Movva with 39. For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Bhurtel took two wickets each.

Nepal had earlier defeated the UAE in their first warm-up match. Prior to that, Nepal won two practice matches against the MCA President’s XI in Mumbai, while they lost a three-match series 2–1 against Sri Lanka A in Sri Lanka.

 

Nepal will begin their ICC T20 World Cup campaign on Magh 25, facing England in their opening match.
