MI New York Wins Major League Cricket Title

Kathmandu – MI New York, the American team owned by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians, has won the Major League Cricket (MLC) title. In the final, MI New York defeated defending champions Washington Freedom by 5 runs to claim their second championship.

Chasing a target of 181 runs set by MI, Washington managed only 175 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs.

After losing the toss, MI New York was invited to bat first and scored 180 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Quinton de Kock top-scored with 77 runs. Monank Patel contributed 28 runs, Kunwarjit Singh remained unbeaten on 22, and captain Nicholas Pooran added 21 runs.

Although Washington had an impressive season overall, they fell short in the final. MI New York, despite a poor start to the tournament, qualified for the playoffs and remained unbeaten thereafter.

MI New York had also won the title in the inaugural season, while Washington Freedom had won the second season last year.
