Kathmandu – The Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen a significant rise in both its business and brand value this year.
According to Indian media reports, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has become the most valuable franchise for the first time in its history.
A report by global investment bank Houlihan Lokey states that IPL’s business value grew by 13% in 2025, reaching $18.5 billion (approximately ₹1.6 lakh crore). The brand value of the league also increased by 14%, touching nearly $4 billion (around ₹33,000 crore).
According to the report, RCB’s current brand value stands at $269 million. This rise has allowed RCB to surpass long-time leaders Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in brand rankings.
RCB’s success has been attributed to balanced on-field performance, a loyal fan base, and smart branding strategies. The team’s victory in the IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings attracted over 678 million viewers, significantly boosting its popularity.
Mumbai Indians now hold second place with a brand value of $242 million, while CSK is third with $235 million. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) follow closely in fourth place with a brand value of $227 million.
This season also saw a notable increase in advertising revenue. The report estimates that IPL 2025 generated around $600 million (nearly ₹5,000 crore) in ad revenue—up 50% compared to the previous year.
Top franchises now earn between ₹650 crore and ₹700 crore annually, according to the report.
The report concludes that the IPL continues to set new benchmarks in the commercial sports world. RCB’s 2025 title win marks a major shift in the league’s power dynamics, especially in terms of brand valuation.
