Canada qualifies for ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Kathmandu – Canada has qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held next year in India and Sri Lanka. Securing the top spot in the Americas Regional Final, Canada has confirmed its place in the upcoming World Cup.

Hosting the four-team Americas Regional Qualifier, Canada has won all five matches played so far. Their latest victory against the Bahamas secured their ticket to the World Cup.

In the match against the Bahamas, Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma took three wickets each, restricting the Bahamas to just 57 runs. In reply, Dilpreet Bajwa played an aggressive unbeaten knock of 36 runs off 14 balls, completing the chase in just 5.3 overs.

Led by captain Nicholas Kirton, Canada had made their debut in the T20 World Cup last year when it was held in the USA and the Caribbean. In this round of qualification, Canada emerged as a dominant side.

With this qualification, Canada joins 11 other nations already confirmed for the T20 World Cup alongside hosts India and Sri Lanka. The other qualified teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, United States, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan.

The remaining seven spots will be filled through regional qualifiers in Europe, Africa, and Asia–East Asia Pacific (EAP) regions.
