Bangladesh Defeat Pakistan in First T20I

Kathmandu – Hosts Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in the first T20I match held in Mirpur on Sunday, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Chasing a modest target of 111 runs, Bangladesh reached the goal in 15.3 overs with 3 wickets down. Opener Prabhij Hossain anchored the chase with an unbeaten 57 off 39 balls, smashing 3 fours and 5 sixes.

Towhid Hridoy contributed 36 runs, while Zakir Ali remained not out on 15 off 10 balls. For Pakistan, Salman Mirza took 2 wickets and Abbas Afridi claimed 1.

Earlier, having been sent to bat first after losing the toss at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Pakistan were bowled out for 110 runs in 19.3 overs.

Opener Fakhar Zaman top-scored with 44 off 34 balls, hitting 6 fours and 1 six. Abbas Afridi added 22 and Khushdil Shah made 17 runs, but other batters failed to reach double figures.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took 3 wickets, Mustafizur Rahman grabbed 2, while Mehidy Hasan and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took 1 each.

The second T20I will be played on Tuesday.
