T20I: Australia Clinches Series Victory

Kathmandu – Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten half-century led Australia to a thrilling 2-wicket win over South Africa in the third and final T20I on Saturday, securing the series 2-1.

The decisive match, held at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns, was filled with excitement. Batting first after losing the toss, South Africa posted 172 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs.

Although the start was shaky, Dewald Brevis stabilized the innings with a blistering 53 off 22 balls. Tristan Stubbs added 25 runs, and Rassie van der Dussen remained unbeaten on 38. For Australia, Nathan Ellis took 3 wickets.

Chasing 173, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh scored 54 runs and shared a 66-run opening partnership with Travis Head.

With the match coming down to the wire, Australia needed one run per ball after 18 overs. However, pressure mounted when Bosh took two wickets in the penultimate over.

Needing 10 runs in the final over, Maxwell played some brilliant shots to seal the win with one ball to spare. He remained unbeaten on 62 off 36 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes, earning him the Player of the Match award.

With this victory, Australia has now remained unbeaten in their last seven T20I series. In contrast, South Africa has managed to win only one of their last ten T20I series.

The two teams will now face off in a three-match ODI series starting Tuesday.
