Malaysia’s Virandeep Sets a Record

Kathmandu – Malaysian star batter Virandeep Singh has made history by becoming the first Associate player to score 3,000 runs in T20 International cricket.

 

The 26-year-old achieved this milestone in just 98 innings, making him joint-fourth fastest to reach 3,000 T20I runs, alongside Australia’s Aaron Finch.

 

Since making his T20I debut in 2019, Virandeep has scored 3,013 runs in 101 matches.

 

He also holds the record for reaching 3,000 runs in the second-shortest time span in T20I history (based on years since debut).

While Babar Azam reached the mark in 6 years and 23 days, Virandeep took 6 years and 30 days—making him the second-fastest player in terms of time since debut.

 

Currently, Virandeep ranks 10th on the list of all-time highest T20I run scorers. At the top is retired Indian batter Rohit Sharma, who amassed 4,231 runs in 151 innings.

 

Virandeep is now recognized as one of the best T20 batters from Associate nations.
