Nepal Suffers Third Consecutive Loss in Top End T20 Series

Kathmandu – Nepal has faced its third straight defeat in the ongoing Top End T20 Series being held in Australia.

After losing their first two matches, Nepal fell to Melbourne Stars by 31 runs today. Chasing a target of 176 set by Melbourne in Darwin, Nepal managed only 144 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Nepal’s opener Aasif Sheikh top-scored with a half-century, making 53 runs. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel added 33, Kushal Bhurtel scored 25, and Kushal Malla made 11. No other batter was able to reach double digits.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat, Melbourne Stars scored 175 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Blake Macdonald top-scored with 74, while Thomas Rogers contributed 65.

For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets, Sompal Kami took 2, and Shahbaz Alam claimed 1 wicket.

Before this, Nepal had already lost matches against NT Strikes and Bangladesh ‘A’.

Nepal is scheduled to play Hobart Hurricanes tomorrow, followed by matches against Melbourne Renegades on Wednesday and Pakistan A on Friday.

The top four teams at the end of the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals.

The tournament features teams from Pakistan A, Bangladesh A, and Nepal, along with franchise teams including Chicago Kingsmen, Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers, Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades, ACT Comets, and NT Strikes.
