Nepal to Host Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier

Kathmandu – Nepal has been confirmed as the host for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. The ICC announced on Thursday that the tournament will be held in Nepal from January 12 to February 2, 2026.

This will be the biggest international cricket tournament ever hosted by Nepal. The matches are set to take place at the Upper and Lower Mulpani Cricket Grounds in Kathmandu.

A total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament, aiming to secure a top four finish to qualify for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England and Wales. The World Cup itself will be played across seven venues over 24 days, with the final to be held at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Bangladesh and Ireland have automatically qualified for the global qualifier due to their participation in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup. Nepal (host) and Thailand will represent Asia, while USA has qualified from the Americas. The remaining five teams will be determined through regional qualifiers—two each from Africa and Europe, and one from the East Asia–Pacific region.

The 10 participating teams will be divided into two groups, followed by a Super Six stage, and then the final match. The ICC has stated that the detailed match schedule will be released soon.
