Sushma Godawari and Kantipur College Register Wins in Inter-College T20 Cricket; Janata Higher Secondary School and Kasturi Defeated

Sunsari – Sushma Godawari College and Kantipur College, Biratnagar, made winning starts in the third Inter-College T20 Cricket Tournament underway in Itahari, winning their respective matches played on Sunday.

In the first match of the day, Sushma Godawari College defeated Kasturi College by a comprehensive margin of 61 runs.

After losing the toss and batting first, Sushma Godawari scored an impressive 139 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in a match reduced to 11 overs due to bad weather.

For Sushma Godawari, Krishna Sivakoti scored 47 runs off 32 balls, while Anil Basnet played an unbeaten knock of 43 runs from 22 balls. Adit Khadka contributed 15 runs. For Kasturi, bowlers Yashwant Mehta and Arpan Adhikari took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 140 runs, Kasturi College managed only 78 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs. Yashwant Mehta top-scored with 23 runs, Aman Mishra made 15, while Siddharth Yadav and Pramul Basnet scored 10 runs each.

For Sushma Godawari, Swarnim Kandel, James Century, and Sagar Dotel claimed two wickets apiece. Krishna Sivakoti of Sushma Godawari was named Player of the Match.

In the second match, Kantipur College of Biratnagar defeated Janata Higher Secondary School of Itahari by 25 runs.

After winning the toss and batting first, Kantipur College scored 118 runs after losing all wickets in a 16-over match shortened due to weather conditions.

Nischal Gupta top-scored for Kantipur with 49 runs, while Manu Das scored 20 and Jayprakash Yadav added 19 runs. For Janata, Ehsan Khan took four wickets, Ankit Das claimed three, and Utsav Acharya took two wickets.

In reply, Janata Higher Secondary School could manage only 94 runs in the allotted 16 overs while chasing a target of 119 runs. Ankit Das scored 27 runs, Prashant Nepal made 19, and Utsav Acharya added 13, but their efforts were not enough to secure a victory.

For Kantipur, bowler Khemraj Hamal took two wickets, while Arbin Mandal, Santosh Gupta, and Ramratan Yadav took one wicket each. Nischal Gupta of Kantipur College was adjudged Player of the Match.

The tournament, which will run until Poush 26, features 12 college teams from Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari districts of Koshi Province. The teams have been divided into four groups, with the top team from each group advancing to the semifinals.
