Surkhet Crowned Karnali Cricket Cup 2026

Birendranagar, July 2 — Powered by a blistering half-century from Bipin Rawal, Surkhet won the Karnali Cricket Cup 2026 title. In the final held at Birendranagar Cricket Ground on Thursday, Surkhet defeated Salyan by 7 wickets to clinch the championship.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Salyan posted 139/9 in 20 overs. In reply, chasing a target of 140, Surkhet comfortably reached 143/3 in just 16 overs to register an easy victory.

For Salyan, Sachin BK scored 31 runs off 38 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six. Towards the end of the innings, Chandra BC played an aggressive unbeaten knock of 36 runs off 18 balls, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Nitesh Budhathoki contributed 13 runs, Diwan Pun made 10, Surya Sunar scored 9, while captain Dipendra Rawat added 7.

For Surkhet, Raj Prasad Shah claimed 3 wickets for 32 runs in his four overs. Kailash Khadka took 2 wickets, while Prakash Jaisi picked up 1 wicket. Three Salyan batters were run out.

Chasing 140, Player of the Match Bipin Rawal produced a superb innings of 81 runs off 46 balls, striking 10 fours and 4 sixes. Aawas Shah remained unbeaten on 29 off 23 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Manish Thapa scored 8, while Nischal Rawal added 7 runs. Surkhet also collected 18 runs in extras.

For Salyan, Chandra BC, Diwan Pun, and Sandip Gandharva picked up one wicket each.

After delivering a match-winning performance to guide Surkhet to the title, Bipin Rawal was named the Player of the Match.

The tournament, organized by the Karnali Province Cricket Association in Surkhet, featured teams from Surkhet, Salyan, Mugu, Dailekh, Kalikot, Rukum West, Jajarkot, and Jumla districts.

In the tournament, Arbind Gharti Magar of Rukum West finished as the highest run-scorer with 143 runs, including one half-century. Likewise, Kailash Khadka emerged as the tournament’s most successful bowler, taking 10 wickets in four matches.
