The Sudurpashchim Province Women’s Cricket Team defeated the Gandaki Province Women’s Team by 44 runs in the first match of Group ‘B’ of the NECOS Cup National T20 Cricket Tournament.
After losing the toss, Sudurpashchim was came in to bat first and scored 120 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Gandaki managed only 76 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
For Gandaki, Simana K.C. claimed 4 wickets, while Niru G.T. picked up 2 wickets. However, Gandaki’s batters failed to build meaningful partnerships. Opener Srijana Poudel scored 14 runs, while Chandramaya Baral contributed 16 runs.
Sudurpashchim got off to a strong start, with the aggressive stroke play by Bindu Rawal, and posted a competitive total of 120 runs, batting through the full 20 overs. Bindu was the top scorer with 30 runs, while Karuna Bist added 28 runs.
Gandaki’s batting lineup struggled against the disciplined bowling of Ashika Mahara and Sneha Mahara. The two bowlers shared the workload equally, bowling a combined 8 overs, conceding just 18 runs and taking an equal share of the wickets and runs conceded.
In the NECOS Women’s T20 Tournament, Group B consists of Gandaki, Sudurpashchim, Bagmati, and APF, while Group A features Koshi, Karnali, Madhesh, and Lumbini. The Army team, which was originally placed in Group A, withdrew from the tournament at the last moment.
