Himalaya Cricket Academy Cup U-16 Inter-School Boys T20 Cricket Tournament to Be Held in Pokhara

Pokhara – The Himalaya Cricket Academy Cup 2082 U-16 Inter-School Boys T20 Cricket Tournament is going to be held in Pokhara. The tournament will take place at the Pokhara Cricket Ground from Mangsir 25 to Poush 6. The event is sponsored by Himalaya Cricket Academy, coordinated by Pokhara Metropolitan Cricket Association, and organized by the Kaski District Cricket Association. According to tournament coordinator Birendra Pun, 12 schools from Kaski district will participate in the competition.

 

According to Pun, the participating schools include Global Collegiate School, Ratnajyoti Secondary School, Kumudini Homes, Pratibha Secondary School, Harvard Secondary School, Triveni Secondary School, Himalayan Secondary School, Navin Mavi, Janaprakash Mavi, Tops Secondary School, Diamond Secondary School, and Lhavin Residential School.

 

Pun stated that the Kaski District Cricket Association has been conducting such tournaments for several years with the objective of strengthening the cricket structure at the school level, providing a platform for young talents from an early age, and producing players who can represent the district at national and international levels. He added that creating a highly competitive environment at the school level makes it easier for players to progress in the future, and the upcoming inter-school boys T20 cricket tournament will play an important role in youth cricket development in Kaski district.

 

Since the tournament will be conducted in the T20 format, it will offer young players a full opportunity to test their skills according to the demands of modern cricket. The organizers believe the tournament—held at the Pokhara Cricket Ground—will be a perfect combination of entertainment, competition, and talent identification.

 

The tournament will also serve as a selection process for the district team, making it even more significant. After the tournament, the best-performing players will be placed in a closed training camp for the same age group ahead of national-level competitions. In this training camp, coaches, selectors, and cricket analysts will assess the players’ technical, mental, physical, and strategic abilities. Following this, a Challenger Cup will be organized.

 

The final selection of the Kaski U-16 boys’ team will be made based on the performances of the players selected from the closed camp during the Challenger Cup. The 12 participating teams will be divided into four groups with three teams each. The winner of each group will qualify for the semifinals, and the two semifinal winners will compete in the final. The winning team will receive a trophy, medals, and certificates, while the runner-up team will also be awarded a trophy, medals, and certificates.

 

In the individual category, Himalaya Cricket Academy will provide talent-based incentives: the Player of the Match will receive a 25% discount on the academy’s admission fee, the Player of the Series will receive a 100% discount, the Best Bowler and Best Batter will receive a 50% discount, and the Emerging Player will receive a full admission fee waiver, according to academy chairman Shakti Baral.
