Kathmandu — Sudurpaschim Royals have secured their place in the final of the ongoing season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
In today’s first qualifier, Sudurpaschim defeated Biratnagar Kings by 77 runs to book their spot in the final. Biratnagar, despite the loss, will still have a chance to reach the final through the Eliminator.
Chasing a target of 156 runs, Biratnagar were bowled out for 78 runs in 14.1 overs. Faf du Plessis top-scored for Biratnagar with 36 runs, but his effort was not enough to avoid a heavy defeat. For Sudurpaschim, Scott Kuggeleijn, Abinash Bohara, and Harmit Singh each took two wickets.
Earlier, at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Sudurpaschim were invited to bat first after losing the toss. They posted 155 runs for seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Vinod Bhandari was the standout performer with 63 runs, scored off 52 balls with three fours and two sixes. Asif Sheikh and Sheldon Jackson contributed 20 runs each, while Harmit Singh added 14, and Ishan Pandey chipped in with 13 runs.
For Biratnagar, Pratish GC and Merchant de Lange claimed two wickets each, while Surya Tamang and Sam Hazlett picked up one wicket apiece.
