Nepal Avenge Super Over Loss, Beat Netherlands by 6 Wickets

Kathmandu – In their third match of the ongoing Tri-Nation T20 Series in Scotland, Nepal defeated the Netherlands by 6 wickets, avenging their earlier loss in a Super Over thriller.

After winning the toss, Nepal opted to field first. The Dutch team posted a competitive total of 174 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In response, Nepal chased down the 175-run target in 19.4 overs, losing just 4 wickets.

Nepal’s win was anchored by opener Kushal Bhurtel, who top-scored with 65 runs off 51 balls, including six boundaries. Middle-order batter Aarif Sheikh contributed 39 runs, while debutant Bhim Sharki added 27 runs.

In the dramatic 19th over, Aarif Sheikh got injured while completing a double on the final ball. Lokesh Bam, who came in as a replacement, remained unbeaten on 12 runs, while Dipendra Singh Airee finished with 16 not out.

For the Netherlands, Ben Fletcher, Aryan Dutt, Jack Lyan Kase, and Roelof van der Merwe each took a wicket.

Earlier, Dutch opener Michael Levitt scored a blistering 86 off 53 balls, hitting 6 fours and 5 sixes. Roelof van der Merwe added an unbeaten 36 runs, while Aryan Dutt scored 17 and Saqib Zulfiqar chipped in with 14. The rest of the batting lineup struggled, failing to reach double digits.

For Nepal, Karan KC was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 40 runs in his 4 overs. Lalit Rajbanshi, Dipendra Singh Airee, Rupesh Singh, and Sandeep Lamichhane took a wicket each.

With this victory, Nepal not only avenged their earlier loss to the Netherlands but also climbed to the top of the points table with 4 points from 3 matches, surpassing the Dutch on net run rate. In this double round-robin format, the top-ranked team will be crowned the series champion.

Nepal will face hosts Scotland today in the final match of the series. A win would seal the title for Nepal
