Nepal Set USA a Massive Target of 318 Runs, Ishan Pandey Scores 84

Kathmandu – Nepal have set a massive target of 318 runs against table-toppers USA in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.

After losing the toss at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal batted first and posted 317 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

For Nepal, Ishan Pandey was the top scorer with an impressive 84 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee also made a valuable contribution of 59 runs. Openers Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel scored 43 and 29 runs respectively, while captain Rohit Paudel was dismissed for 46 runs. Gulshan Jha scored 15 and Sompal Kami added 5 runs. Aarif Sheikh and Nandan Yadav remained unbeaten on 17 and 1 run respectively.

Nepal fielded the same playing XI that secured a six-wicket victory over Scotland on Monday.

The USA had registered their first win in seven League 2 matches in Kirtipur after defeating Scotland by six wickets on Wednesday. Before that, the USA had lost their previous two matches of the series against Scotland and Nepal. Following the win over Scotland, the USA climbed to the top of the standings.

The USA and Scotland both have 38 points, but the USA lead the table due to a better net run rate. The USA have played 27 matches, while Scotland have played 32. Nepal are currently in fifth place with 22 points from 27 matches.

In the eight-team League 2 competition, each team will play a total of 36 matches.
