Nepal Defeats Host Rwanda

Kathmandu – Nepal defeated host Rwanda by 38 runs in the ongoing ICC Women’s Challenge Trophy cricket tournament in Rwanda.

Chasing a target of 104 runs set by Nepal, Rwanda were bowled out for just 65 runs in 17.4 overs. For Rwanda, Mary Bimenyimana scored the highest with 19 runs, while no other batter managed to reach double figures.

For Nepal, Manisha Upadhyay took four wickets, while Kabita Kunwar, Rachana Chaudhary, and Riya Sharma claimed two wickets each to bowl out Rwanda cheaply.

Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Nepal scored 103 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Indu Barma top-scored with 33 runs, followed by Kabita Kunwar with 24 and Rubina Chhetry with 11.

For Rwanda, Henriette Ishimwe took three wickets, while Mary Bimenyimana picked up two. Belise Murikantete and Rosine Irera claimed one wicket each.

Nepal had also defeated Rwanda earlier in the tournament by two wickets. However, Nepal lost both matches against the United States. They secured a win against Italy but were defeated by Vanuatu.

So far, Nepal has collected six points from six matches, with games against Italy and Vanuatu still remaining. In this double round-robin league format, the team finishing at the top of the table will be crowned champion.
