Lumbini’s playoff hopes still alive, defeats Biratnagar by 5 wickets

Kathmandu – Lumbini Lions defeated Biratnagar Kings by 5 wickets. Chasing a target of 145 runs, Lumbini reached the target in 17.4 overs with 5 wickets remaining.

 

For Lumbini, De Arcy Short scored the highest with 57 runs, while Sandeep Jora made 24 and Dilip Nath added 16 runs. Captain Rohit Paudel was dismissed for a duck, and Sumit Maharjan was out for 10. Niroshan Dickwella remained unbeaten on 29 runs.

 

For Biratnagar, Sandeep Lamichhane and Subash Bhandari took two wickets each, while Basir Ahmed claimed one wicket.

 

Batting first after losing the toss in the Nepal Premier League, Biratnagar scored a total of 144 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Lokesh Bam top-scored with 35 runs, followed by Basir Ahmed with 28, Sam Hazlett with 27, Faf du Plessis with 12, Pratish GC with 11, Narayan Joshi with 5, and Sahil Patel with 3, while George Munsey was out for a duck. Sandeep Lamichhane came in for one delivery, hitting a six off the final ball, and Marchant de Lange remained unbeaten on 10 runs.

 

For Lumbini, Sher Malla took the most wickets with three, while JJ Smit, Abhishek Gautam, and Ruben Trumpelmann took one wicket each. With this victory—Lumbini’s third win in three matches—the team has kept its playoff hopes alive.
