World Championship of Legends: Indian Champions Reach the Semifinals

Kathmandu – The Indian Champions have secured a place in the semifinals of the ongoing World Championship of Legends in England.

In the final match of the league stage held on Tuesday, India defeated the West Indies Champions by 5 wickets to confirm their spot in the knockout stage.

Chasing a target of 145 runs, India completed the run chase in just 13.2 overs, losing 5 wickets. To qualify for the semifinals, India had to reach the target within 14.1 overs – and they did it with 5 balls to spare.

Stuart Binny played a match-winning unbeaten innings of 50 runs off 21 balls, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Captain Yuvraj Singh contributed 21 runs off 11 balls, including 2 fours and a six.
Yusuf Pathan remained unbeaten with 21 runs off 7 balls, while opener Shikhar Dhawan added 25 runs off 18 balls.

For the West Indies Champions, Dwayne Smith and Dwayne Bravo took 2 wickets each, and Sheldon Cottrell claimed 1 wicket.

Earlier in the match, West Indies were invited to bat first after losing the toss in Leicester. They scored 144 runs for 9 wickets.

Kieron Pollard top-scored with an unbeaten 74 runs off 43 balls, smashing 3 fours and 8 sixes.
Dwayne Smith added 20 runs off 21 balls, but no other batter reached double digits.

For the Indian Champions, Piyush Chawla took 3 wickets, Varun Aaron and Stuart Binny picked up 2 each, and Pawan Negi grabbed 1 wicket.

The first semifinal will be between India and Pakistan, while the second will feature South Africa vs Australia. Both semifinals will be played on Thursday, and the final is scheduled for August 2.
