Kathmandu – In the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier, Nepal defeated Oman by 38 runs.
In the recently concluded match at Oman Cricket Academy Turf-1 in Al Amerat, Oman, chasing Nepal’s target of 152 runs, managed only 113 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
For Oman, Vinayak Shukla top-scored with 32 runs off 19 balls, while Mohammad Nadeem contributed 25 runs. For Nepal, Gulshan Jha took three wickets, while Nandan Yadav and Sompal Kami took two wickets each. Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed one wicket.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first against the home team, Nepal scored 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Kushal Bhurtel was the top scorer with 69 runs off 51 balls, hitting seven fours and a six. Aasif Sheikh contributed 24 runs off 20 balls with two fours and a six. Gulshan Jha added 18 runs with two sixes, and Aadil Alam scored 16.
For Oman, Nadeem Khan took four wickets, while Shufiya Mehmood and Jiten Ramanandi claimed two wickets each.
Having already secured a place in the T20 World Cup, Nepal now has 8 points and is close to winning the title. Nepal currently tops the points table, followed by Oman in second place with 6 points.
Nepal will play their final Super Six match against Samoa on Friday.
