 Nepal Set 237-Run Target Against the Netherlands

Kathmandu – Aarif Sheikh’s composed innings of 84 runs helped Nepal post a moderate target of 237 runs against the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match.

Having lost the toss and been invited to bat first in Dunedin, Nepal scored 236 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs, setting a target of 237 for the Dutch team.

For Nepal, Aarif Sheikh top-scored with 84 runs, while Bhim Sharki and captain Rohit Paudel contributed 35 runs each. Kushal Bhurtel added 18 runs and Dipendra Singh Airee scored 16 runs.

For the Netherlands, Paul van Meekeren was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets. Michael Levitt claimed 3 wickets, while Aryan Dutt took 1 wicket.

After defeating the Netherlands by 5 wickets in the second match, Nepal aims for back-to-back wins in the series.

Nepal, having won two and lost one out of the three matches in the series, is looking to end on a high by defeating the Netherlands in today’s final game.

Nepal had edged past Scotland by 1 wicket in the opening game and followed that with a 5-wicket victory over the Netherlands in the second match. However, they suffered a narrow 2-run defeat to Scotland in the third game and are now in search of their third win in the series.

On the other hand, the Netherlands, having lost both of their matches in the series so far, are seeking their first win. They were defeated by Nepal in the first game and then lost to Scotland by 44 runs in the second.

In the League 2 points table, Nepal is currently placed seventh with 10 points from 15 matches — 4 wins, 9 losses, and 2 no-results. The Netherlands, having played 22 matches, sit in second place with 26 points — 12 wins, 8 losses, and 2 no-results.

Following League 2, Nepal is scheduled to play a Tri-Nation T20I Series against Scotland and the Netherlands.
