Nepali Women’s Team Begins Closed Training for World Cup

Kathmandu – The Nepali women’s cricket team, which will compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, has begun its closed training camp. The training started today at the Mulpani Cricket Ground.

 

Earlier, on Thursday, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had announced a 26-member preliminary squad. The squad includes:

Indu Barma, Rajmati Airee, Sita Rana Magar, Samjhana Khadka, Kabita Joshi, Riya Sharma, Somu Bishwokarma, Rachana Chaudhary, Ruby Poddar, Puja Mahato, Kabita Kunwar, Rubina Chhetry, Sana Praveen, Alisha Yadav, Ishwori Bishwakarma, Roma Thapa, Soni Pakhrin, Bindu Rawal, Laxmi Saud, Manisha Upadhyaya, Simana KC, Anu Kadayat, Kajol Shrestha, Kiran Kunwar, Asmina Karmacharya, and Mamata Chaudhary.

 

CAN has stated that the final squad will be announced after the closed camp concludes. The Global Qualifier, set to be held in Nepal from January 12 to February 1, will feature 10 participating nations. The top four teams will qualify for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled for June in England.

 

In the Global Qualifier,

 

Group A consists of Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, USA, and Zimbabwe,

 

while Group B includes Nepal, Bangladesh, Namibia, the Netherlands, and Papua New Guinea.
