The competition is getting intense. Out-of-form players like Bhim Sharki and Dipendra Singh Airee are trying hard to regain their rhythm. Pace duo Sompal Kami and Karan KC are being challenged by emerging pacers Nandan Yadav, Rijan Dhakal, and Pratish GC.
Coach Stuart Law, known for giving chances to young players, now faces a crucial selection decision. Will he once again trust the experienced campaigners for the upcoming Scotland tour, or will emerging names like Basir Ahmad, Subha Kansakar, Kiran Thagunna, and Ishan Pandey break into the squad?
Nepali batters are yet to find consistency with the bat in the ongoing national core camp. Players who performed well in the recent PM Cup are now failing to replicate that success in the training camp, while those who struggled during the tournament are now scoring runs in the camp matches.
Top PM Cup run getters like Arjun Kumal, Trit Raj Das, and Ishan Pandey, who had scored over 300 runs during the tournament, have been underwhelming in their performances during the current camp. In contrast, batters like Bhim Sharki and Arjun Saud, who couldn’t leave an impact in the PM Cup, are now among the few are finding form at the core camp.
Dipendra Singh Airee, who struggled throughout 2024, has shown moderate consistency. He scored over 300 runs in 10 matches during the PM Cup and has added 138 runs from 4 matches in the core camp, a steady but not standout showing.
This pattern has continued: the top five batters from the PM Cup have largely failed to deliver in the national core camp, adding more questions than answers as the team prepares for the all-important tour of Scotland.
