Kathmandu – In the first match of today’s second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Biratnagar Kings defeated Sudurpashchim Royals by six wickets.
Chasing a target of 148 runs, Biratnagar reached the total in 11.5 overs, losing four wickets. Sam Heazlett and Faf du Plessis played half-century innings, with Sam scoring 51 and Faf scoring 50. For Sudurpashchim, Avinash Bohara took two wickets and Harmit Singh claimed one.
Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Sudurpashchim posted 147 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Arif Sheikh top-scored with an unbeaten 45, while Ishan Pandey contributed 38 runs.
For Biratnagar, captain Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets and Pratish GC grabbed two. Today’s win confirmed Biratnagar’s meeting with Sudurpashchim in the first qualifier. Sudurpashchim had already qualified earlier. Kathmandu and Lumbini will play in the Eliminator. At 3:30 PM today, Chitwan Rhinos and Pokhara Avengers will compete.
