Kathmandu – Pakistan has won the triangular T20I series by defeating Afghanistan by 75 runs in the final.
In the final held in Sharjah, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 141 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Salman Ali Agha scored 24 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz added 25 runs off 21 balls, including 2 sixes.
For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan took 3 wickets, while Noor Ahmad and Fazalhaq Farooqi took 2 wickets each, preventing Pakistan from making a big total.
In reply, Afghanistan’s innings collapsed from the start. Spinner Mohammad Nawaz took a hat-trick, claiming 3 wickets in the 6th and 8th overs. He finished with figures of 5 wickets for 19 runs. Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem took 2 wickets each. Afghanistan was all out for just 66 runs in 15.5 overs.
Nawaz became the third Pakistani player to take a hat-trick in T20 Internationals. He was also named the “Player of the Match.”
The series also featured host team UAE. All three teams played each other twice, with UAE failing to win a single match. Both Pakistan and Afghanistan had won one match each in the group stage.
This triangular series was organized as preparation for the Asia Cup, which is set to begin on Tuesday.
