Kathmandu – In today’s first match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Janakpur Bolts won the toss and elected to field first, inviting defending champions Lumbini Lions to bat.
The clash between the two teams, both of whom have been performing impressively in the ongoing edition, is being regarded as one of the high-profile matches of the NPL.
Lumbini Lions, the only unbeaten team in the current edition, are at the top of the points table. They have collected five points from three matches, with two wins and one match abandoned due to rain. Another victory would put them in a strong position to secure a place in the playoffs.
Janakpur Bolts, who won the title in the inaugural edition, have bounced back strongly this season after a disappointing performance in the second edition. They currently sit fourth in the points table with four points from four matches, having recorded two wins and two losses.
The two teams have faced each other twice before. Janakpur won their first encounter by just one run, while Lumbini claimed a four-wicket victory in their second meeting.
Meanwhile, today’s second match will see Biratnagar Kings take on Kathmandu Gorkhas at 5 PM.
