Nepal Suffered Heartbreaking Super Over Defeat, UAE advanced to the Final

In the second semi-final of the ACC Women’s U19 Premier Cup 2026, played at Bayuemas Cricket Oval, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal Women U19 suffered a heartbreaking defeat to UAE Women U19 in a thrilling Super Over. After both teams finished with identical totals of 100 runs in the allotted 20 overs, the match went into a Super Over.

Batting first in the Super Over, Nepal were all out for 6 runs, while UAE chased the target in just 3 balls. With this victory, UAE qualified for the final, while Nepal’s title campaign came to an end.

Nepal had displayed outstanding performances throughout the tournament to reach the semifinal. However, batting struggles and pressure in the most crucial match proved costly for the team.

Batting first after the toss, UAE were bowled out for 100 runs in 19.5 overs. For UAE, Mehul Pranav Kulkarni was the top scorer with 30 runs. She struck 4 fours off 29 balls while trying to hold the innings together. Lavanya Keny scored 25 runs off 40 balls, while Neha Kumari remained unbeaten on 19 off 11 balls towards the end of the innings.

The remaining batters failed to score freely against the disciplined Nepal bowling attack. Captain Samaira Dharnidharka scored 2, AL Maseera Jahangir made 1, Vaishnave Mahesh scored 1, Janani Thirukkumaran added 7, Mehak Thakur was dismissed for 0, Emily Thomas scored 1, Afsha Afzal Khan made 2, and Sai Nikhil Thite scored 2.

The highest partnership of the UAE innings was 43 runs for the fourth wicket between Lavanya Keny and Mehul Kulkarni, which helped the team reach a competitive total.

Among Nepal’s bowlers, Anu Kadayat and Riya Sharma claimed 3 wickets each. Anu picked up 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs, while Riya delivered an outstanding spell of 3 wickets for just 8 runs in 3.5 overs. Tirsana Bishwokarma took 2 wickets for 17 runs in 3 overs, while Manisha Upadhayay claimed 1 wicket. Rachana Chaudhary and captain Sony Pakhrin remained wicketless.

Chasing 101 runs, Nepal lost wickets at regular intervals from the very beginning. Opener Sana Praveen scored 17 runs off 30 balls, while Sabitri Dhami was dismissed for 8 off 18 balls. Captain Sony Pakhrin managed only 3 runs, putting Nepal’s top order under pressure.

Anjila Pathak contributed 6 runs off 19 balls. Then Anu Kadayat played an aggressive knock of 20 runs off 15 balls, hitting 2 fours and 1 six to bring Nepal back into the contest. In the middle order, Alisha Kumari Yadav scored 17 runs off 13 balls. Karuna Bista made 4, Tirsana Bishwokarma was dismissed for 0, Riya Sharma scored 4, Rachana Kumari Chaudhary added 4, while Manisha Upadhayay was run out for 2.

Nepal’s highest partnership of the innings was 33 runs between Anu Kadayat and Alisha Kumari Yadav, which brought Nepal close to the target. However, despite taking the game into the final over, Nepal was also bowled out for exactly 100 runs in 20 overs, resulting in a tie.

For UAE, Vaishnave Mahesh produced an excellent bowling performance, taking 3 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs. Sai Nikhil Thite claimed 2 wickets for 9 runs in 3 overs, while Janani Thirukkumaran and Mehak Thakur picked up 1 wicket each.

After the match entered the Super Over, Nepal batted first and managed only 6 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 0.5 overs. Sabitri Dhami remained unbeaten on 1, captain Sony Pakhrin was stumped after scoring 2, and Anu Kadayat was also stumped for 2. Nepal received 1 extra run. Chasing 7 runs, UAE reached the target in just 0.3 overs without losing a wicket. Captain Samaira Dharnidharka remained unbeaten on 7 runs from just 3 balls, scoring the winning runs, while Neha Kumari remained unbeaten at the other end.

For Nepal, Riya Sharma bowled the Super Over, conceding 7 runs in 0.3 overs, as UAE comfortably chased down the target to book their place in the ACC Women’s U19 Premier Cup 2026 Final.
