Nepal Takes On Melbourne Renegades in Fifth Match of Top End T20 Series

Kathmandu – Nepal is set to play its fifth match in the ongoing Top End T20 Series in Australia, taking on the Melbourne Renegades Academy today. The game will be held at Kajalies Arena in Palmerston, Darwin, and is scheduled to begin at 11:15 AM Nepali time.

Nepal enters the match having won just one of its four games so far, currently sitting in eighth place on the points table. The team faced defeats in its first three matches—against NT Strike, Bangladesh A, and Melbourne Stars—before securing a strong victory over Hobart Hurricanes in its most recent outing. The team is now aiming to continue that momentum.

Melbourne Renegades Academy, Nepal’s opponent, has played three matches and won two. The series features 11 teams, each playing six league matches. The top four teams at the end of the group stage will move on to the semifinals. Nepal will play its final league game against Pakistan Shaheens on Friday.

Following the Top End T20 Series, Nepal will remain in Australia for a set of five practice matches. The national side is scheduled to play two T20s against Cricket ACT on August 26 and two more against South Australia on August 28. The tour will conclude with a one-day match against South Australia two days later.

After the Australian tour, the Nepali team will travel to the UAE for a historic three-match T20I series against two-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies. The series will be held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on September 27, 28, and 30.

Looking ahead, Nepal will then head to Oman to participate in the Asia-East Asia Pacific Regional Qualifier for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The qualifier will take place from October 8 to 17. Nepal has been drawn into Group 2 alongside Kuwait and Japan. The competition includes nine teams split across three groups, with the top two from each advancing to the Super Six stage. From there, the top three teams will qualify for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Nepal, Oman, UAE, and Papua New Guinea are among the teams in the qualifier that have previously featured in the T20 World Cup, adding extra significance to the upcoming matches.
