Kathmandu- The Bangladesh ‘A’ team that will compete against Nepal’s national cricket team in the upcoming Top End T20 Series in Australia has been officially announced. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) unveiled a 15-member squad on Monday for the tournament, appointing Nurul Hasan Sohan as captain. The squad includes several players with experience representing the senior national team and features cricketers who have played for Bangladesh across all three formats of international cricket.
The Top End T20 Series, organized by Northern Territory Cricket Australia, will take place from August 14 to 24. Bangladesh ‘A’ will begin their campaign with an opening match against Pakistan ‘A’. Nepal is scheduled to face Bangladesh ‘A’ on August 16 (Shrawan 31). Bangladesh ‘A’, who finished as runners-up in the previous edition, are participating in the tournament for the second consecutive time, while Nepal will be making its debut.
A total of 11 teams will take part in the competition. Alongside Nepal, Pakistan ‘A’, Bangladesh ‘A’, and Chicago Kingsmen—the Minor League Cricket champions from the USA—will represent the international sides. The tournament will also include academy teams from Big Bash League franchises such as the Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers, Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, and Melbourne Renegades. Two local Australian teams will also participate.
All matches are scheduled to be played across five venues, with the event beginning on August 14 when Pakistan ‘A’ faces Bangladesh ‘A’ in the opening fixture. The top four teams after the league stage will progress to the semifinals, with both the semifinals and the final set to be held on August 24 (Bhadra 8).
The Bangladesh ‘A’ squad for the tournament comprises Nurul Hasan Sohan as captain, along with Mohammad Saif Hassan, Mohammad Naim, Zishan Alam, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Tofayel Ahmed, Mohammad Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, Rakibul Hasan, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi, Nayeem Hasan, Musfik Hasan, Ripon Mondol, and Hasan Mahmud.
