De Villiers’ Century Powers South Africa Champions to World Championship of Legends Title

Kathmandu — A brilliant century from captain AB de Villiers helped South Africa Champions lift the title of the World Championship of Legends, defeating Pakistan Champions by 9 wickets in the final held in Birmingham, England, on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 196 runs, South Africa reached the total with 19 balls to spare, losing just one wicket.

Opening batsman AB de Villiers played a sensational unbeaten knock of 120 runs off 60 balls, which included 12 fours and 7 sixes. It was his third century in six matches in the tournament.

He shared a 72-run opening partnership in 36 balls with fellow opener Hashim Amla, who scored 18 runs off 14 balls, including 2 fours. De Villiers then partnered with JP Duminy to add an unbeaten 125-run stand for the second wicket.

Duminy contributed with an unbeaten 50 runs off 28 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.

For Pakistan, Saeed Ajmal took the only wicket of the South African innings. Pakistan had used 7 bowlers in the match.

Earlier, Pakistan Champions, after winning the toss and electing to bat, posted 195/5 in 20 overs.
