“The Progress of Cricket is Linked with CAN’s Success” – Paras Khadka

Kathmandu – Former captain of the national team and current official of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Paras Khadka, has stated that the progress of Nepali cricket is directly linked to the success of CAN. He emphasized that he is part of the system and that this is the time to focus on work.

“The growth of cricket means CAN is succeeding. CAN is the governing body of cricket, so its success directly translates into the sport’s progress,” Khadka said.

While acknowledging that disputes can occur in any institution, he noted that CAN has already gone through a 100% election process, making this a crucial time to focus on development.

In the same interview with Nepal Press Online, Khadka mentioned that his two-year tenure is about to end and that representatives from local, provincial, and federal levels will vote based on performance.

“It’s not a time for criticism, it’s a time for work,” he added.

Khadka also emphasized that a successful cricket association must function as a team, not as individuals. “A good cricket association is about teamwork, not just one person,” he said.

Reflecting on the journey of Nepali cricket, he credited not only himself but many other players for their contributions:

“From Shakti Gauchan, Basant Regmi, Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Vesawkar to senior players like Uttam Karmacharya, Binod Das, and Mehboob Alam – everyone has played a part,” he said.
