Australia Start T20I Series with Victory over West Indies

Kathmandu – Australia kicked off their T20I series against West Indies with a win, thanks to a half-century from Cameron Green and a debut fifty by Mitchell Owen.

Chasing a target of 190 runs set by the West Indies, Australia reached the target with 7 balls to spare, losing 7 wickets. On debut, Owen smashed 50 runs off 27 balls, including 6 sixes. Green contributed 51 runs from 26 balls, hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. Captain Mitchell Marsh added 24 runs.

For the West Indies, Jason Holder, Gudakesh Motie, and Alzarri Joseph each claimed 2 wickets, while Akeal Hosein picked up 1 wicket.

Earlier, having lost the toss and been invited to bat first, West Indies posted 189 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Roston Chase top-scored with 60, while captain Shai Hope added 55 runs.

Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 36 runs in 4 overs. Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Nathan Ellis, and Mitchell Owen took 1 wicket each.

With this victory, Australia lead the five-match series 1-0.
