Kathmandu – Uganda defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a thrilling T20 International (T20I) match.
The match was part of an ongoing six-nation T20I series being held in Uganda. In the game played on Saturday, the host nation triumphed by 6 runs over the UAE.
Chasing a target of 127 runs, UAE managed to score only 120 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem was the top scorer for his side, scoring 33 runs off 28 balls, including 4 fours and a six. Muhammad Zohaib contributed 24 runs off 28 balls, while Asif Khan added 15 runs before being dismissed.
For Uganda, captain Juma Miyagi led from the front with 3 wickets, while Dinesh Nakrani took 2 wickets and Alpesh Ramjani picked up 1 wicket.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Uganda posted 126/9 in 20 overs.
Rajiv Dhawan top-scored for Uganda with a solid 44 off 42 balls, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Sridip Mangela scored 39 off 38 balls, while Alpesh Ramjani remained unbeaten on 21.
In UAE’s bowling department, Muhammad Rohid took 3 wickets, Sagheer Khan and Muhammad Zohaib claimed 2 each, and Dhruv Parashar and Haider Ali took 1 wicket each.
In the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, UAE is currently ranked 13th, while Uganda sits at 22nd.
