In the ongoing Inter-College Cricket League Cup 2082 at Eden Haven Cricket Ground in Lekhnath, Pokhara, Western Region Engineering Campus (WRC) and Pokhara University (PU) emerged victorious on Saturday. Organized by the Pokhara Metropolis Cricket Association and primarily sponsored by Kangaroo Education Consultancy, the tournament saw WRC defeat Janapriya Multiple Campus (JMC) and PU overcome Gandaki University (GU).
In the third league-stage match, WRC secured a commanding 10-wicket victory over JMC. Rain reduced the game to 13 overs, and after winning the toss, WRC opted to field. JMC managed 52 runs for 6 wickets, with Dorje Lama top-scoring with 10 runs. No other JMC batter reached double figures. WRC’s Akash Subedi and Upendraraj Joshi each claimed 2 wickets with tight bowling. Rain delayed the second innings, further shortening the game to 5 overs with a revised target of 27 runs. WRC chased it down explosively in 1.4 overs without losing a wicket. Upendraraj Joshi was named Player of the Match.
In the other match, PU defeated GU by 40 runs. Rain reduced the game to 16 overs, and after GU won the toss and chose to field, PU scored 161 for 6 wickets. GU, chasing 162, reached 36 for 3 in 11 overs when rain interrupted play again. Persistent rain led to the match being decided by the DLS method, declaring PU the winner by 40 runs, as confirmed by Pokhara Metropolis Cricket Association President Birendra Pun. PU’s Suwas Bastola was named Player of the Match.
The tournament, continuing until July 8, 2025, will award the winner 30,000 NPR and a trophy, with the runner-up receiving 15,000 NPR and a trophy. Outstanding players, including the best batsman, best bowler, and Player of the Match for each game, will also receive trophies.
