Syangja Wins Gandaki Province Women’s T20 Cricket Title

Syangja district women’s cricket team has won the Gandaki Province T20 Women’s Cricket Tournament. With this victory, Syangja successfully defended the title, securing back-to-back championships.

In the final held on Saturday at the cricket ground of Pokhara Stadium, Syangja defeated Kaski by 7 wickets.

Chasing the target of 57 runs set by Kaski in the final organized by the Gandaki Province Cricket Association, Syangja achieved the target in 10.3 overs, losing just 3 wickets. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs. 100,000, while runner-up Kaski had to settle for Rs. 50,000.

While chasing the target, Simana KC contributed an unbeaten 17 runs to Syangja’s win. She faced 22 balls and struck 1 boundary. Kushum Godar remained not out on 11, while opener Shreya Shah scored 5, Salina Sen 6, and Jyotsna Marasini 6. For Kaski, Rachana Chaudhary and Yashoda Bhujel took one wicket each.

After losing the toss and batting first, Kaski was bowled out for just 56 runs in 16 overs. For Kaski, Rekha Tamang scored 24 and Rachana Chaudhary 14. Rekha hit 2 fours and 1 six off 28 balls, while Rachana struck 2 fours off 25 balls.

Other Kaski batters—Sirjana Paudel (5), Binita Nepali, Shikha Dawadi, Riya Tamang, Yashoda Bhujel, Sushila Dimtuk, and Sonima Pun—were all dismissed for zero.

For Syangja, Apeksha Budhathoki took 4 wickets for just 6 runs in 3 overs, while Simana KC took 3 wickets for 13 runs in 4 overs.

Based on her outstanding performance, Simana KC from Syangja was declared both the ‘Woman of the Match’ and ‘Best Bowler’. Sirjana Paudel from Kaski was named ‘Best Batter’, and Sonima Pun Magar was awarded ‘Emerging Player’.

The four-day tournament saw participation from teams representing Syangja, Kaski, Nawalpur, and Parbat districts of Gandaki Province.
