Nepal to Play 8 Matches in Canada :FUll Schedule

Nepal’s schedule for matches in Canada starting from September 16 has been made public. As part of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, Nepal will travel to Canada this week to play 4 out of the 12 CWC League 2 matches scheduled for this year. In addition to the four One Day Internationals (ODIs), Nepal will also play 4 T20 matches in Canada, which are being organized by Cricket Canada.

According to the released schedule, Nepal will play against Canada on September 16 and 22, and against Oman on September 18 and 24. All matches will start at 7:45 PM Nepali time and are expected to end around 2:00 AM Nepali time.

All games will be played at Maple Leaf Cricket Ground, located in Ontario, Canada. All ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches will be broadcast live on the FanCode YouTube channel, and live commentary updates will also be available on our Cricket Kitchen YouTube channel.

If Nepal manages to win all the matches in this series, they will climb to second place in the points table with 10 points. Currently, the Netherlands leads the table with 12 points.

Nepal, currently in seventh position in League 2, is under pressure to bounce back in this series. In the opening series of the League 2 hosted at home, Nepal lost three out of four matches—winning one against the Netherlands but losing both against Namibia and one more to the Netherlands.

Having lost three matches on home soil, Nepal is under significant pressure. In Canada, they will be competing against both the host Canada and Oman. Nepal is scheduled to play 4 ODIs and 4 T20s in total during this tour.

There’s a good chance Nepal could perform well in Canada. Earlier this year, Nepal whitewashed Canada 3-0 in a three-match friendly ODI series. In that series, Anil Sah and Bhim Sharki each scored a century in the same match. Almost all specialist batters performed well against Canada.

Nepal last played Oman in an ODI on June 15, 2023, in a World Cup warm-up match, where Nepal won by 2 wickets. In that match, Kushal Bhurtel scored a century and Bhim Sharki hit a half-century. Recently, Nepal has had an upper hand over both Oman and Canada in ODI matches. If that form continues, Nepal could realistically aim for a clean sweep in the Canadian series.

After the ODI series ends, Nepal will face Oman and Canada in a 4-match T20 series from September 28 to October 2. Nepal will play Canada on September 28 and October 1, and Oman on September 29 and October 2. The T20 series will follow a league format, with no final match—the team finishing first will win the series.

All T20 matches will begin at 9:45 PM Nepali time.
