Nepal’s Brilliant Victory Against Singapore

Kathmandu – In the ACC U-16 East Zone Cup held in Singapore, Nepal won their opening match against Singapore. Chasing a modest target of 139 runs, Nepal successfully reached the target with 6 wickets in hand and 16.3 overs remaining.

Opener Pradeep Jaisi played a brilliant knock, scoring a half-century to guide Nepal to victory. He displayed patient batting throughout and reached his fifty off 91 balls. He remained unbeaten on 55 runs.

At the UKM Oval Cricket Ground in Malaysia, Singapore won the toss and opted to bat first. They were bowled out for 138 runs in 36.1 overs. Captain Riyan Naik was the top scorer for Singapore, contributing 53 runs.

Opener Ahaan Bhuthandam scored 38 runs, while the other opener, Roshan Arun, made 11 runs before getting out.

Nepal’s captain Bipin Sharma was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets and dismantling the Singaporean batting line-up. Sachit Bhatt took 3 wickets, while Shubham Khanal and Abhay Yadav claimed 1 wicket each.

This tournament, organized under the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) annual schedule, sees the participation of 10 teams. Nepal is placed in Group A, alongside Singapore, Indonesia, Bhutan, and Japan. Group B consists of host Malaysia, Hong Kong, Maldives, Thailand, and Myanmar.

Nepal is currently batting in response to the target of 139 runs.
