For the First Time, Two Players from Siraha Represent Nepal in International Cricket

Kathmandu –  In a historic milestone for Nepali cricket, two players from Siraha district have represented Nepal together in an international cricket match for the first time. The achievement came during the ongoing Tri-Nation T20 International Series being held in Scotland.

In a high-intensity match against the Netherlands on Monday night at the Titwood Ground, Nandan Yadav of Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality–4 and Rupesh Kumar Singh of Aurahi Rural Municipality–3, Intatar, made their international debuts for the national team.

Despite Nepal’s narrow defeat in the third Super Over, both players delivered noteworthy performances.

Nandan bowled 2.5 overs, took 2 crucial wickets for 18 runs, and maintained an economy rate of 6.35. He also made a vital contribution with the bat, scoring 12 not out off 4 balls, helping to push the match into a Super Over.

Rupesh bowled 3 overs, conceding 31 runs in his spell.

Nandan had previously impressed in domestic Division Two one-day matches, while Rupesh was included in the national squad during the Hong Kong Series.

Their debut has sparked excitement and pride among cricket fans in Siraha, marking a significant moment for the district in Nepal’s cricketing history.

Nepal, chasing a target of 153 runs, ended their innings on 152 for 8, sending the match into a Super Over, where the Netherlands eventually secured victory.

Nepal is scheduled to face host nation Scotland today in their next match of the Tri-Nation T20I Series, which also features the Netherlands.
