South Africa Wins ICC World Test Championship Title

Kathmandu – South Africa has won the ICC World Test Championship title for the first time. By defeating Australia in the final Test match played on Saturday, South Africa claimed their first major ICC tournament victory in 27 years.

Chasing a target of 282 runs, South Africa reached the total in the first session of the fourth day’s play, losing 5 wickets. Aiden Markram laid the foundation for the team’s victory with a brilliant century, scoring 136 runs.

Starting the day at 213 for 2, South Africa lost 2 wickets during the session. Captain Temba Bavuma contributed 66 runs before being dismissed, while Tristan Stubbs scored 9 runs.

Markram was caught out when the team needed just 6 more runs to win.

This victory marks South Africa’s first major ICC tournament triumph in 27 years — their first championship since winning the ICC KnockOut Trophy in 1998.
