Pakistan Cricket: Babar, Rizwan, and Afridi to Be Dropped from T20 Squad

Kathmadnu – Pakistan has decided not to include senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi in any capacity for the upcoming T20 series against West Indies and Bangladesh.

A panel of selectors including Aqib Javed, Aleem Dar, Azhar Ali, and Asad Shafiq is set to announce the T20 squad next week for the tours to West Indies and Bangladesh. Both series are scheduled to be played in July and August.

The selection committee and head coach Mike Hesson have already informed Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen that they will not be required for the T20 series and should instead focus on the ICC World Test Championship and the ODI format.

Pakistan is scheduled to tour the West Indies in late July, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs.

Following that, the team will travel to Bangladesh for a three-match T20 series, although there is a proposal to expand the series to five matches in August.

This decision signals major changes in Pakistan’s T20 squad, with expectations that young and emerging players will be given an opportunity to shine at the international level.
